Owls staring down tough schedule
By Bud L. Ellis
Last season, the Florida Atlantic Owls finished 5-7 overall, tying for third place in the Sun Belt Conference with a 5-3 league mark.
The Owls hope to move higher in the conference standings in 2010. The road won’t be easy, though, as FAU will play seven road games, a slate that features a trip to Texas in November.
The Owls open at UAB on Sept. 2. The home opener features a matchup with Big Ten team Michigan State on Sept. 11. Following the bye week, North Texas comes to town.
Four of the next five are away from home: at South Florida, at Louisiana-Monroe, at Arkansas State after an off week, home with Florida International, and at Western Kentucky on Nov. 6.
The Owls return home to face Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 13 before the road trip to face the Longhorns on Nov. 20. After a trip to Middle Tennessee State, FAU ends the regular season with a home game against defending Sun Belt champion Troy on Dec. 4.
